If you look at something (say Lara popping her head up over a snow hump) your eye is drawn to her, and your peripheral vision blurs out further distances. The reality is that they have lost what reality actually is. In an effort to show off the detailing they can push, they have made all far shots crisp and clear as opposed to the S versions blurred backgrounds (you can see this when Lara is popping her head up in front of a mountain or sat in the car with the guy). I think that when you see Lara being pulled up by the guy you can clearly see it is more photorealistic and a better feel for that extra detail, so that is a definite improvement to me.īut its a double edged sword where I feel they have spent too much time trying to show off the extra power they have lost touch with the cinematic feel of the scenes we are seeing.
